When my son's guidance counselor called and requested a meeting with my husband and myself, I knew something bad had happened. He told me that our son was okay, but he did need to speak with us that day if possible. When we got to the school, we found out that drugs had been found on our son. They believed his story that they were not his, and he cooperated with them fully about who they belonged to. Both boys were good kids who just happened to make a really stupid mistake, and the school thankfully recognized this. They wanted both of them to be punished, but they didn't want them to have their college choices be at risk because of a negative mark. The school agreed that if both boys took Minor in Possession Classes, then they would not be written up for this as part of their permanent record. They were very happy to comply with this, and I think a valuable lesson has been learned.
